Missouri Wood Industry Insurance Trust

Workers’ compensation solutions for Missouri’s wood industry.

Trust is in our name

Since 1992, we’ve provided workers’ compensation benefits to Missouri employers who do business in the wood industry. As a self-insured trust, we are more of a membership than a business, made up of people, like you, with ownership in our mission. Our over 130 member companies are dedicated to providing statutory workers’ compensation to the wood products industry across our communities. One of our guiding philosophies is to be transparent and fair when dealing with injured employees and to vigorously fight fraudulent claims to ensure the security of our businesses.

We serve the Missouri wood industry including:

  • Logging
  • Sawmill
  • Charcoal
  • Pallet
  • Manufacturing
  • Wood working
  • Flooring mills
  • Stave mills

Benefits of membership:

Loss Control Consulting

As a member of the trust, you have access to a staff of Certified Safety Professionals who know the wood industry, understand the exposures, and are able to control your workers’ compensation costs. We help maintain the health of your business and your employees with loss control consulting services at no additional cost. This includes: employee training, quarterly site inspections, program development, and OSHA program assistance.

Claims Involvement

A workers’ compensation claim can impact your business in many ways. The effort it takes to organize and file your claim can pull you away from day-to-day matters for weeks or even months. As a member of the trust, you’re assigned a dedicated consultant during this time, to help expedite the claims process and ensure even the most complex situations end smoothly. This includes Active Onsite guidance in the case of traumatic accident regulatory assistance with OSHA.

Annual Training

We hold a yearly meeting as an opportunity for members to learn and share about their workers’ compensation program. The meeting is ideal for owners, managers, supervisors, and office staff. The educational breakout sessions provide helpful information for handling claims and providing a safe workplace. We encourage members to send a representative to the annual meeting and bring back learnings to their organization.

Earnings Back to You

“Underwriting profits” are returned to the membership through payment of dividends on an annual basis. Individual member and group losses determine the level of surplus funds.

Local Ownership and Control

We understand the forest products industry and the unique demands it requires. We can assist with administration, claims, and loss control services.
